Turmeric. You may or may not have heard of it but either way, you should definitely incorporate into your diet. This spice is amazing for your health.

These days you can find health cafes serving Turmeric Lattes or also known as Golden Lattes (do yourself a favour and try one, they are delicious!)

So, what exactly is Turmeric?

Turmeric is a bright yellow spice (that looks almost exactly the same as Ginger when whole) that has been used for thousands of years in Chinese and Indian systems of medicine as an anti-inflammatory agent to treat a wide variety of conditions, including:

  • Jaundice
  • Menstrual difficulties
  • Bloody urine
  • Haemorrhage
  • Toothache
  • Bruises
  • Chest pain

These days that list has grown even longer, with this amazing spice now being used for:

Now, I don't know about you but I feel like that is a pretty impressive list. 

So, if you haven't tried Turmeric, you may be wondering what it tastes like, yes?

Turmeric has a peppery, warm and bitter flavor and a mild fragrance slightly reminiscent of orange and ginger, and while it is best known as one of the ingredients used to make curry, it also gives ballpark mustard its bright yellow color.

The colour of Turmeric is so powerful it will literally change your dish yellow, which in my opinion, is a fun way to add vibrant colour to your dish.

With so many health benefits from one spice, why wouldn't you take the option to experiement with your food and create some exciting new and tasty meals!
