WHY IS POSITIVITY PIVOTAL IN LIVING A FABULOUS LIFE?

Taking care of your mind, body and soul by transforming negative thoughts into positive ones is key to improving your happiness and well-being. Many of us engage in mentally destructive thought patterns in today’s day and age due to multiple societal pressures, which is understandable. These negative thought patterns ultimately drain our energy and take us away from being present in the moment. However, transforming a destructive thought into a constructive one has the potential to make our lives bloom. Let’s see how we can turn these undesirable thoughts into awesome, life-enhancing, positive ones!

WHY IS POSITIVITY PIVOTAL IN LIVING A FABULOUS LIFE?

 

Ask yourself this: why is it that in many scientific studies, people who are sick actually begin to feel better when given a placebo pill? Well, the individual begins to truly believe that this magic pill is working wonders in healing their body and mind. What I’m preaching here is that the power of positive thoughts is enough to transform our lives for the better. The biggest skill to attain here is ‘catching yourself’. Being mindful in the moment when we are thinking about how things may go wrong, we need to stop, reflect, and instead think about how things may go right. Being in sync with our mind is a gift – it gives us the power to control our thoughts, and consequently, our happiness.

 

HOW TO TRANSFORM NEGATIVE THOUGHTS INTO POSITIVE THOUGHTS

 

  1. Gratitude

Every morning, write down three things that you are grateful for. I encourage doing this in the morning as it sets your day up for success, in terms of having a day filled with positive-thoughts! You could be grateful for having a roof over your head, or for even having clean water to drink. What this does is it instils a positive-mindset into your daily thinking habits by placing attention on amazing, yet everyday things that we otherwise would have neglected. But remember this - consistency is integral. You must practice gratitude daily to reap the benefits, even on days when you don’t want to. The mind is very much like a muscle – if you don’t train the muscle, it won’t grow bigger and stronger, right? Well, if you don’t train the mind into practicing gratitude, you won’t be able to transform your thought processes from negative to positive.

  1. Affirmations

Lots of our negative thoughts root from beliefs we have of ourselves. Society and its pressures (i.e. having the perfect body, the perfect house, the perfect grades) can burden our confidence even on a subconscious level. Affirmations can give us the strength to heal our mind and ultimately eradicate the little devil living on one shoulder while giving strength and power to the angel that sits on the other. I suggest downloading an affirmation app onto your smart phone so that you have a daily affirmation randomly chosen for you – forgetting is no excuse!

 

Remember – we all suffer from crises. It’s how we deal with these crises that determine our happiness in life. SO, what will it be? Is the glass half empty or half FULL?
